Antonia San Juan

She rose to fame in 1999 when she played Agrado in the film «Todo sobre mi madre» by Pedro Almodóvar, for which she was nominated for Best New Actress at the Goya Awards, the Award for Best Supporting Performance at the Actors’ Union Awards, and the Award for Best Actress at the Maspalomas Film Festival. She participated in the famous television series «La que se avecina» giving life to Estela Reynolds (Paca Pacheco). She made her film debut with the film «La primera noche de mi vida», directed by Miguel Albadalejo. Among the many other titles in which she has participated are «75 días», directed by Marc Romero, «El hoyo», directed by Galder Gaztelu – Urrutia, «Istmo», directed by Carlo Fenizi, «El tiempo de los monstruos», directed by Félix Sabroso, and «Del lado del verano», directed by herself, among many others. In fiction, we have been able to see her in the successful series «Hierro» for Movistar Plus+, as well as in «Gym Tony» on Cuatro, «Fantasmagórica», «Frágiles» for Telecinco and «La que se avecina», a series with maximum audience on Telecinco.

In theatre, Antonia San Juan has participated in several projects which she directed and starred in, such as: «Cuentos en la noche de San Juan», «El cielo según San Juan» and «Mi lucha». Among her latest works is the play «La gran depresión» directed by Félix Sabroso, starring alongside Nuria Roca. And her participation in the latest film by Nacho G. Velilla, «Mañana es hoy».
Among her latest projects is «Interview with my daughter Mari», a show in which, through comedy and with cabaret reminiscences, Antonia San Juan makes a fierce critique of patriarchy and machismo established as something natural and socially accepted.
